How are reference checks priced?
Only pay for what you need. Unlike our competitors, we price per check. There’s no additional cost to enable the Refapp integration; it’s included as part of the standard CheckWorkRights platform.
You’re billed only for the checks you complete in CWR under our existing usage-based model. That includes any reference checks you initiate through Refapp, alongside the Work Entitlement, licences, or other checks you may already be running.

How does CheckWorkRights deliver reference checks?
The partnership with Refapp enables CheckWorkRights to create and manage reference checks as part of a customer’s recruitment and background checking process.
It connects directly with Refapp to handle candidate record creation, referee communication, progress tracking, and delivery of the completed reference report back to CheckWorkRights.
How are reference check projects assigned?
You can choose how reference check projects will be assigned, the following options are available:
Use CheckIntelligence: Our smart compliance engine that reads candidate’s job role and location straight from your ATS, applies automation rules for that role and location, and instantly determines what checks, licences, and qualifications are required.
OR
Use Packages of Checks: Recruiters select a predefined check package from your ATS to include reference checks and corresponding project template. Each package corresponds to a fixed configuration within CheckWorkRights (e.g. RTW + Reference Check or RTW + reference check + RSA + First Aid).
OR
Manually add checks in CheckWorkRights: Recruiters who don’t wish to integrate their systems can manually send and manage reference checks by adding candidates using the CheckWorkRights dashboard.
Where does the candidate submit referee details?
The candidate receives their MyCheck email, and when they go to complete their reference checks, they are seamlessly redirected to the Refapp portal to submit referee contact information. CheckWorkRights does not store any detail on the referees, but does store status updates and the final report.
Where can I view results?
Both in-progress and completed Refapp reports are attached directly to the candidate’s record in CheckWorkRights, centralising all your hiring data in one secure location.
How long are reports kept for?
Reports are stored until a candidate is made historical (a process that is automated after 90 days if they don’t become an employee).
For someone who becomes an employee, it is kept on file until they are made historical.
Does the system include fraud detection?
Yes. Refapp provides built-in fraud detection. Fraud detection features help identify if results are authentic using email, phone and IP address matching. CWR receives and displays this flag, updating the check status to Awaiting Employer Review – Fraud Detected for your immediate attention.
What specific ATS platforms do you integrate with?
We offer pre-built integrations for major platforms like Workday, PageUp, SmartRecuiters and more. We also support downstream HRIS integrations and other custom integrations via our API for multi-system workflows from recruitment, to payroll and rostering.
