Treasury Wine Estates gains visibility across contracted labour workforce with CheckWorkRights

Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), a market leader and one of the world’s largest wine producers, is leading the way to proactively monitor their contracted labour workforce.

Due to the seasonal nature of vineyard work, TWE use a combination of labour hire and subcontracted labour to support peak periods such as pruning and harvest.

TWE worked with CheckWorkRights to install a contractor management tool built specifically for users of contracted labour.

Employees of TWE contractors are now provided with a Checkworkrights system-generated ID card which includes a QR code. Workers produce this ID at the farm gate to TWE staff who scan the QR code with the CheckWorkRights app on their smart phone or tablet. Instant verification of work rights is produced along with a photo of the individual to confirm identity.

In the background the app is time and date stamping the verification process occurring as well as users involved. An audit trail is created automatically and reporting is available for authorised relevant management within both organisations.

The system is currently operating at approximately 90 TWE sites across Australia, involving 25 labour hire companies and over 500 workers.

“TWE takes very seriously our obligations and responsibilities as it relates to workplace entitlements for, and working rights requirements of, all workers,” said TWE Supply Optimisation Manager Philip Watson.

“The system has made it easier for our subcontractors to simplify the process of ensuring their employees hold appropriate working rights.”
